<p><strong>Botanical Description and Habitat:</strong> Guggulu is a small, thorny tree found in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The resin secreted from the bark is collected and purified to refine the active principles, thereby enhancing its therapeutic competency.</p>



<p><strong>Taste and Energetics:</strong> Shuddha Guggulu is a drug with a bitter-pungent taste and hot in potency (ushna virya). It undergoes pungent vipaka. It has a special effect on the balance of Vata and Kapha doshas, but excessive use may stimulate the Pitta dosha.</p>
