<p>The process of digestion mainly occurs through digestive fire called “Agni”. This digestive fire converts the food into seven Dhatus (tissues) and three malas (waste products). This process of conversion is called digestion in Ayurveda. Thus digestive fire is very important for our body’s strength and muscles, and complexion depends upon it. There are herbs that help for healthy functioning of the stomach and digestive system.</p>



<p>Digestion can be defined as &#8220;The organic process by which food is converted into substances that can be absorbed and assimilated by the body for growth and maintenance of the body&#8221;. The enzymes present in the alimentary canal break the food into simple Chemical compounds.</p>



<p><strong>Following are the 13 Ayurvedic herbs recommended for healthy digestion</strong>:</p>

<li><strong>Pipali (Piper longum) Fruit</strong>: It is stimulant, carminative, and useful in constipation. It also helps to stimulate the appetite and dispels gas from the intestines, and is a mild laxative.</li>



<li><strong>Hing (Ferula asafoetida) Gum resin</strong>: Pacify the vata(air) andused in indigestion.It is valuable remedy for flatulence and spasmodic contractions of the intestine. It acts as an anthelmintic for round worms in children.</li>



<li><strong>Cumin (Cuminum cyminum) Seed</strong>: This herb is beneficial in digestive disorders like biliousness, Indigestion, Atonic Dyspepsia, Diarrohea, Malabsorption Syndrome and Flatulent tonic.</li>



<li><strong>Pomegranate (Dried juice, pulp &amp; Seeds) Fruit</strong>: Pomegranate is highly digestive and pacifies the Pitta (Fire) which cools the stomach.</li>



<li><strong>Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica)</strong>: It<strong> </strong>improve appetite and digestion strength.</li>



<li><strong>Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) Fruit</strong>: It is good to increase the Appetite, As Digestive Aid, Liver Stimulant, As Stomachic and Mild Laxative. Haritaki has proven gastro kinetic effect i.e. it helps in moving the contents of stomach earlier.</li>



<li><strong>Kali mirch (Piper nigrum) Fruit</strong>: It aids digestion by stimulating the secretion of digestive enzymes, improving gastric motility, and reducing gastrointestinal discomfort.</li>



<li><strong>Rock mineral salt</strong>: It aids digestion by stimulating the production of digestive enzymes and promoting proper stomach acid balance.</li>



<li><strong>Dhania (Coriander sativum) Seed</strong>: It aids digestion by relieving bloating, gas, and indigestion, and promoting healthy bowel movements.</li>

<li>Eat a lot of salads and a fibrous diet.</li>
