Digestive Care is considered a household product formulation of herbs which have been used safely for centuries in South Asia as a home recipe. What is digestion?

Digestion can be defined as "The organic process by which food is converted into substances that can be absorbed and assimilated by the body for growth and maintenance of the body". The enzymes present in the alimentary canal break the food into simple Chemical compounds. According to Ayurvedic classical texts Digestive process is helped by the digestive Power/Fire called 'Agni'. Agni is the Chemical factor which converts food into Tridoshas (Three–Water, Fire, Air Vitiations), Seven Dhatus (Tissues), Trimalas (Waste Product) and this process of conversion is termed as digestion in Ayurveda. Thus, Agni is the only factor upon which depends the life, Strength, Development of tissues, Skin complexion. This Agni is further classified into 4 types:

  1. Jatharagni–One
  2. Bhutagnis–Five
  3. Dhatwagnis–Seven
  4. Malaagnis–Three

Role of Jatharagni in digestion: This agni transforms the whole of the digested food mass into a common digested substance.

Role of Bhutagnis: All the five bhutagnis will digest their respective substances needed for the formation of different tissues.

Role of Dhatwagni: The process of digestion is again continued by the Dhatwagnis, which are present in each Dhatus (Tissues). After completion of digestion by bhutagnis the digested material have to be distributed in different proportions for the formation of different tissues, which is achieved by the Dhatwagni (Seven Dhatus/Tissues) present in different tissue levels of the body. These Dhatwagnis will act upon the concerned nutrients and helpin the formation of three end products such as-Gross form, Subtle form, Bi-Products/Waste product–the end products that are excreted.

Role of Malaagni: There are three malas in our body. They are sweat, urine and faeces. Malaagni contributes further digestion of food by absorbing excessive water content of faecal matter and imparts natural colour and odour.

Contrary to this, When there is an imbalance of the Agni-which means digestive Fire-then the digestion process is disrupted. This is when indigestion occurs. There are differences in the indigestion caused in people due to Vata, Pita and kapha doshas. In people with Vata Dosha, ndigestion is felt as a painful cramping of the abdomen. In people with Pitta Dosha, there is a burning or searing kind of pain in the abdomen. Indigestion in people with kapha dosha is characterized by nausea and vomiting along with the abdominal pains.

Why Digestive Care?

Digestive Care contains the herbs, which according to Ayurveda strengthen the digestive fire and stimulate the secretion of gastric juices and provide antidote for pungent foods.
