Traditional Ayurvedic Formula
Literally meaning ten roots, this traditional formula is specifically used to pacify Vata (Air) and Kapha (Water). It is commonly prepared as a tea for Basti (Herbal Enema).
Dashmula is a group of ten roots and a combination of Laghu Panchkula (small five roots) and Vidhata Panchkula (big five roots). The action of these roots is balancing of the three Doshas (Humors - Vata-air, Pitta-fire, and Kapha-water). Dashmula Kwath is a unique formula and a tonic that is used in ayurveda to calm the mind and promote sound restful sleep and help resist stress. It fights against imbalances whether from a poor diet, lack of sleep, mental or physical strain, or chemical toxins in the environment.
Dashmula Kwath is beneficial in various types of nervous disorders, nervous exhaustion, nervine weakness, immune deficiency and lack of stamina, and various types of vata disorders.
Body pain, stiffness and poor circulation, Ama/Toxins disorders, Puerperal Disorder, Puerperal Disease.
It is useful in Cold flashes (when one feels coldness in upper and lower limbs), Vertigo, Excessive Sweating, Cough, Dyspnea, Chest pain (due to cough) and in Edema, High cholesterol, Menstrual disorder, Fever accompanied by a headache.
After delivery, weakness fatigue is a natural phenomenon for a lady. This decoction should be given after four hours of the delivery (twice a day) from 1st day to 10th day. Many complications can arise after delivery during these days such as Body aches, Fever, Pain in Abdomen, Excessive thrust, Anemia, Malaise, and Anorexia. This decoction helps to resolve all type of these complications.
It is also helpful in many complications to the lady after delivery such as Stomatitis, Burning Sensation of hands, feet, eyes, infections, pharyngitis and giddiness, white discharge from vagina with foul smell etc. Decreased Lactation. It gives good results in these complications.
Nerves: Dashmula Kwath is indicated for aggravations of the nervous system and pain when there are signs of debility. It is used as a decoction or enema for lower back pain, sciatica, tremors, Parkinson's disease and inflammation in the Pelvic and sacral organ.
Lungs: For dry cough and respiratory weakness when there is high vata (Air), dashmula can be used as a tonic to strengthen the system.
Fevers: When the immune system is depleted and is not throwing off fevers. The decoction can cause diaphoresis (Excessive Sweating) and releases the trapped ama toxins.
The action of these roots balances the three doshas in the body. More specifically this formulation is used for vata (Air) Kapha(dry) disorders like pain in body, numbness, stiffness, Ama disorders etc.
Dashmula Kwath acts to calm the mind and promotes sound restful sleep. It Promotes the ability to maintain homeostasis and resist-stress. It prevents the imbalance that may lead to disease whether from poor diet, lack of sleep, mental or physical strain. It is specially beneficial in stress related disorders such as arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, general debility etc.
It is very helpful to check nervous disorders/nervine weakness, fatigue, stress anxiety & memory loss.
It also enhances stamina and immunity
In all above complications dashmula is very effective and should be given for 2 - 3 months.

High Protein diet, Excessive use of Pulses, All meats, sea foods, Acidic/Salty food, caned food, cold drinks, soft drinks, Alcohol, ice cream.
Low salt diet, Green leafy vegetables, wheat green, Gram soup, Bitter Gourd, etc., fresh cooked hot food should be consumed in regular diet. Hot soups of pulses and meal should be taken with powder of ginger, black pepper, long pepper added to them.
Ghee and oils in moderate amount are necessary in daily diet
NOTE: In Vata(Air) vitiated problems this decoction is useful. It is to be given in chronic Vata (old Vata) vitiated problems with Yograj Guggulu.
